Carol Stream Park District offers outdoor or virtual activities

The Carol Stream Park District offers a variety of activities for all ages this winter. For information, visit www.csparks.org. The park district's Fountain View Recreation Center is located at 910 N. Gary Ave., and Simkus Recreation Center is located at 849 W. Lies Road.

New programs have been added to the Digital Guide. In addition, the park district has modified many programs into one-on-one, outdoor or virtual programs for December so you may still participate and follow current mitigation guidelines. December sports:

Carol Stream Park District is offering a variety of youth sports this month to include outdoor Bankshot basketball, dodgeball, kickball, soccer and Wiffle ball. One-on-one sports include speed and agility training, soccer and volleyball.

Arts & crafts:

Browse "ART" in the Digital Guide for a variety of virtual arts and crafts classes, including "Sip and Craft," candlemaking, cupcake decorating and TikTok crafts. They have classes for a wide range of ages so sign up soon.

Grinchmas:

Take a socially distanced walk around your very own Whoville with your family and collect treats from all the Whos. Put on your best grinchy face for a photo with Santa and the Grinch! This outside meet-and-greet will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. You must sign up in advance for time slot. Wear weather appropriate clothes and shoes. Social distancing will be practiced and face coverings are required at all times. Advance registration required by Friday, Dec. 18. You must arrive during your specified arrival window to assure for proper social distancing. All children must be registered and accompanied by an adult (free).

Virtual dance parties:

The park district has three fun virtual dance parties lined up. Registration is required. On Monday, Dec. 28, there will be a "Princess Dance Party" for ages 3 to 6 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dress as your favorite princess and get ready for a party with Miss Paige! Activities include basic dance moves, dance games and a princess craft.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, "JoJo's Dance Party" for ages 7 to 11 will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join a fun dance party inspired by Jojo Siwa. Dancers learn hip-hop, pom skills and jazz routines to all of Jojo's fun music. Activities include jazz technique, pom skills, hip-hop, dance games and craft.

On Wednesday, Dec. 30, sign up for a "Trolls Dance Party" for ages 3 to 6 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join a fun dance party inspired by The Trolls. Dancers learn hip-hop, pom skills, and jazz routines to the fun music of Trolls! Activities include jazz, hip-hop, pom skills, dance games and a craft.

Preschool:

Sign up preschool children for 2021 in-person or virtual classes that begin in January. The park district offers preschool prep for ages 2½ to 3 years and regular preschool for ages 3 and 4 years. For in-person classes, they have implemented a modified operations plan to include social-distancing measures, wellness standards, intense cleaning and sanitizing procedures and face covering requirements.

Fountain View Fitness:

The center features a wide range of strength equipment, free weights, TRX, turf area, and networked cardio machines, including row machines, incline trainers, spin and recumbent bikes, ellipticals, stepmills, arc trainers, and treadmills. Members are following guidelines so that they can benefit from staying fit and active. Memberships are being taken. Email workout@csparks.org for information.
