Funeral for 4th Chicago Police officer to die from COVID-19
CHICAGO (AP) - A funeral service was scheduled for Tuesday for a Chicago Police officer who last month became the fourth officer on the force to die from COVID-19.
Titus Moore, a 14-year veteran of the department, who was found dead in his Chicago home on Nov. 24. An autopsy conducted by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office determined that Moore died from a COVID-19 infection, with other natural causes contributing to his death.
Along with the three other officers who have died from coronavirus-related causes, more than 1,500 Chicago police officers and 46 non-sworn members of the department have tested positive for the virus.
Moore was working as a field training officer in the Calumet District on the city's South Side. In his career he received more than 70 department awards, including a life saving award and a superintendent's award for valor. He is survived by his father, Theopsy Moore, who was also a police officer, and two sisters, according the a department news release.
The private service was scheduled for Tuesday morning at Leak & Sons Funeral Home on the city's South Side, with internment at Forest Home Cemetery in nearby Forest Park.
