There have been 319,513 COVID-19 cases in the suburbs as of Tuesday. That's 43% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 5,456 deaths in the suburbs, which is nearly 44% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

Cook County• As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 146,981 cases and 2,965 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago: 163,741 cases and 3,492 fatalities.

• Top suburb case counts as of Tuesday from Cook County's health department and the medical examiner's office: 5,255 cases and 131 deaths in Des Plaines, 3,627 cases and 39 deaths in Palatine, 3,267 cases and 68 deaths in Arlington Heights, 3,127 cases and 31 deaths in Schaumburg, 2,729 cases and 39 deaths in Streamwood, 2,600 cases and 23 deaths in Mount Prospect, 2,350 cases and 34 deaths in Hoffman Estates, 2,342 cases and 88 deaths in Wheeling, 2,322 cases and 61 deaths in Glenview, 1,664 cases and 72 deaths in Northbrook, 1,617 cases and 21 deaths in Hanover Park (Cook County portion), 1,600 cases and 52 deaths in Elk Grove Village, 1,465 cases and 31 deaths in Rolling Meadows, 834 cases and 11 deaths in Prospect Heights, 590 cases and 26 deaths in Buffalo Grove (Cook County portion).

• As of Tuesday, DuPage County had 47,179 cases and 749 deaths, according to the state. The DuPage County Health Department has slowed its daily reporting, blaming a data processing issue on the state.

• Top counts as of Wednesday, according to the county: 3,622 cases and 67 deaths in Naperville (DuPage County portion), 2,850 cases and 22 deaths in Addison, 2,575 cases and 23 deaths in West Chicago, 2,361 cases and 35 deaths in Carol Stream, 2,319 cases and 29 deaths in Wheaton, 2,272 cases and 15 deaths in Glendale Heights, 2,240 cases and 52 deaths in Elmhurst, 2,230 cases and 34 deaths in Lombard, 1,835 cases and 15 deaths in Aurora (DuPage County portion), 1,629 cases and 10 deaths in Glen Ellyn, 1,533 cases and 25 deaths in Bensenville, 1,316 cases and 10 deaths in Villa Park, and 1,068 cases and 11 deaths in Hanover Park (DuPage County portion).

Lake County • 38,073 cases with 614 deaths as of Tuesday on the IDPH website. The Lake County Health Department has slowed its daily reporting, blaming a data processing issue on the state. The county is no longer reporting total case counts by municipality.Kane County• 32,533 cases with 436 deaths as of Tuesday on the IDPH website. • Most recent top counts posted on the county website as of Sunday: 9,867 in Aurora (Kane County portion), 6,399 in Elgin (Kane County portion), 3,082 in St. Charles, 2,743 in Carpentersville, 1,600 in South Elgin, 1,424 in Geneva, 1,242 in Batavia, 514 in Hampshire, 465 in Sugar Grove, 386 in Gilberts, 357 in Algonquin (Kane County portion).

McHenry County• 14,655 cases and 153 deaths as of Tuesday, according to the IDPH website. Will County• 40,092 cases and 539 deaths reported, according to the IDPH website Tuesday.
