Aurora police say suspects in Sunday shooting in custody

Aurora police say they have several people in custody as they continue to investigate a shooting that left a man in critical condition.

Police were called at 3:15 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of Claim Street to investigate calls reporting gunshots. About 15 minutes later, an Aurora hospital reported a man with gunshot wounds had arrived in its emergency department. The news release from the police department did not say which hospital.

Police determined suspects were in a house on the 200 block of South Ohio Street. The people inside initially refused to respond to police or to come out. A little after 6 p.m., one of the department's crisis negotiators was able to speak with a man and persuaded him, two other male occupants, three female occupants and an infant to come outside. No ages were given for any of the people, including the victim.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
