Seven Mundelein High musicians selected for district festival

Submitted by Mundelein High School District 120

Seven Mundelein High School Band Program students auditioned and were selected to the Illinois Music Education Association District VII Bands and Jazz Bands this fall.

This honor is usually accompanied by a district festival in November where the top music students from more than 50 high schools in the North and Northwest suburbs of Chicago come together to make music.

This year's festival was held virtually for all music students in the state of Illinois.

The students selected from Mundelein High School include: sophomores Neil Martin on jazz alto sax and Leila Moon on clarinet; juniors Natalie Altenhoff on bassoon and Ella Kasamis on jazz piano; and seniors Erich Robb on jazz trombone, Morgan Shumski on jazz bass trombone, and Isabel Sioson on jazz guitar.

Andy Sturgeon and Jerald Shelato direct the instrumental music program at MHS.
