Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Elmhurst

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train Wednesday evening in Elmhurst.

Officials said Elmhurst firefighters and police responded to the scene at North Haven Road and East Park Avenue.

Both inbound and outbound trains on the Union Pacific West Line have been temporarily suspended. A two- to three-hour delay is expected in the case of pedestrian incidents, according to Metra's website.
