Arlington Heights practice to participate in clinical trial

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - WomanCare, an obstetrician and gynecological practice in Arlington Heights, has enrolled its first patient in a clinical trial testing a new procedure to treat stress urinary incontinence.

The Vesair Clinical Trial is being conducted in several distinguished clinics throughout the U.S. to test the safety and efficacy of the Vesair Bladder Control Balloon procedure, researchers said.

"SUI is not life-threatening, but if left untreated, it can greatly diminish a woman's quality of life. Having a nonsurgical option would be a great alternative for the nearly 1 in 2 women over the age of 50 who suffer from this condition," said Dr. Randall C. Kahan, principal investigator for the Vesair Clinical Trial.

The procedure is being developed by Solace Therapeutics Inc., an emerging women's health company in Massachusetts focused on a new office-based treatment for symptoms of female SUI.
