Hunger for drug money hurts kids

I want to express disappointment in Mount Prospect voters who voted to approve the sale of marijuana for entertainment purposes in our village. How many years we have taught our children marijuana was illegal and it could lead to harder drug usage.

We taught it in our schools, "say no to drugs" and stay away from marijuana at all cost. Now, the state of Illinois has turned it into a "legal" drug and our village wants to get a share of the tax money by allowing the sale within our village. How can this now be acceptable? It all comes down to money.

Are we so desperate we are willing to sell the souls of our young people to this drug usage? What is the next step? Look to Oregon where voters have passed a measure that now make possession of heroin, LSD, oxycodone a minor offense with only a $100 fine. We are pushing our future leaders in the wrong direction and we can only blame ourselves.
