Pumpkin smash event in Bensenville on Saturday

Bensenville's Public Works Department, in partnership with SCARCE, will host a pumpkin smash recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The one-day event is an opportunity for families to safely dispose of their Halloween pumpkins while keeping pumpkins out of landfills. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the main parking lot next to the Bensenville Public Works building at 717 E. Jefferson St.

Participants will have the option to either throw their pumpkins from their car into a dumpster or park and smash their pumpkin. Social distancing and mask wearing will be required during the event.
