Pumpkin composting events Saturday in Lake County

Lake County residents can dispose of unwanted pumpkins, squashes or gourds at two collections Saturday.

In Libertyville, a Dumpster will be provided from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Adler Park pool parking lot, 1500 N. Milwaukee Ave. In Mundelein, a dump truck will be available to fill from 9 a.m. to noon in the Community Park parking lot near the spray park, 1401. N. Midlothian Road.

All candles, yarn, plastic or other decorations or inorganic materials should be removed. Composting reduces waste that is sent to landfills, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the amount of water in landfills.
