Lombard woman dies after crash on I-294

A Lombard woman died after a crash early Thursday morning on I-294 near Franklin Park, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the victim as Sana Saleem, 38.

She was headed south in a 2007 White Honda Fit just north of Mannheim Road when she veered off the road for unknown reasons about 1:15 a.m. and struck a light pole, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.

Saleem died at 2:08 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the medical examiner's office said.
