Underwood has mettle

As we close in on the final weeks of the 2020 election, we are living with the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst of this worldwide crisis, we are lacking a national approach to addressing the challenges COVID-19 presents.

However, in her first term in Congress, Lauren Underwood has already demonstrated the ability to help direct a national approach to managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Her expertise in health care shows her ability to work with the scientific community as it develops a safe and effective vaccine. And once we have that vaccine, a national approach to the challenge of establishing public trust in it must accompany a plan for wide distribution across our country.

Lauren has worked tirelessly to understand the impact of this pandemic on the 14th congressional district. She is taking this understanding back to Washington. Her efforts include seeking input and securing federal funding to support the work of local health care professionals as well as state and local public health officials.

Lauren has also received lots of attention by fighting for veterans' needs during the pandemic. Lauren has also recently earned an appointment to chair the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Innovation. This appointment further expands her ability to support development of an effective national pandemic strategy.

As a retired Registered Nurse with advanced education and years of experience in public health, I write in support of Lauren Underwood's candidacy for reelection. Voters in the 14th district have the opportunity to support the talented and energetic U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood on Nov. 3.
