New trustee joins Bartlett village board

Bartlett Village President Kevin Wallace has appointed 33-year village resident Renee Suwanski to the trustee position Kristina Gabrenya resigned last month.

Suwanski's appointment as trustee and service as chairwoman of the village board's public works committee will last until the spring 2021 election, when voters will be able to choose a candidate to serve the remaining two years of Gabrenya's term.

According to Bartlett officials, Suwanski is a small-business owner, instructor, and sales operations and business development professional with 25 years experience in the insurance industry.

"Renée's proven record of working within budgets and deadlines and her willingness to listen to all sides of an issue makes her an excellent fit for this trustee position," Wallace said in a written statement.

In a statement of her own, Suwanski spoke of her passion for Bartlett as a place to live, as well as "so much opportunity for economic growth and community engagement."
