Wheeling Park District board president hits two holes-in-one this season at Chevy Chase
Life is good at Traditions at Chevy Chase Golf Course. Just ask Wheeling Park District Board President Sue Stein. She bagged her first hole-in-one this season on the par-3, hole No. 6, Aug. 20, and, seven weeks later, aced it again.
The odds of an amateur golfer scoring a hole-in-one during a round of golf are approximately 12,500-to-1. Netting a second in less than two months is a remarkably rare feat. In fact, it's never been done in the recorded history at Chevy Chase. Stein takes it all in stride.
"I enjoy being outside in the fresh air on a beautiful course like Chevy Chase. There's natural social distancing and the camaraderie keeps it fun," said Stein. "Having two holes in one has made 2020 a little more bearable."
A Wheeling resident, Stein is a retired Holmes Middle School teacher and has served as a Wheeling Park District commissioner since 2009.
For over 40 years, the Wheeling Park District has owned and operated the 18-hole Traditions at Chevy Chase Golf Course and Chevy Chase banquet and clubhouse facilities at 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Wheeling.
