Embarrassing decision

Your endorsement of Biden is an embarrassment for an otherwise interesting and informative newspaper. In the words of Daniel Moynihan, "every person is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts."

Minimal research would have shown that many of your "factual" statements are flat wrong. Example: " ... Trump abdicated his responsibility [regarding COVID] and scattered it to the fifty states ..." The 10th Amendment to the Constitution provides that powers not specifically granted to the federal government are reserved to the states. These include the power to deal with emergency issues, impose quarantines, etc.

Despite the partisan drumbeat from our governor and Chicago's mayor that Trump and the feds ignored them and did nothing to help, the facts show otherwise. Example: the Army Corps of Engineers reformed McCormick Place into an emergency hospital, one which, thankfully, was not needed.

The conclusion of your piece seems to be that Biden, "while not a perfect man," is more presidential and a unifier. Without doubt, Trump is abrasive and his personal attacks are often despicable. However, I, for one, care less about his style than what he has done for our country and the American people, a subject to which you devoted all of five sentences in your tome.

Contrary to your claim, Biden's record of public service, which has consumed his whole working life, is dismal. He has a well-documented record of plagiarism and lying about his supposed accomplishments. Couple this with his adopting the Democrats' far-left platform and his refusal to answer important questions about his positions on issues and voters are left with no confidence in his abilities to do anything meaningful as president.
