Speed limit reduced on Kaneville Road in Geneva
The Geneva City Council approved lowering the speed limit on Kaneville Road between Peck Road and Fargo Boulevard from 40 mph to 30, and the change will be effective Friday.
Officials cited the safety of students at Geneva Middle School North and South as the reason for the change. A traffic study showed it was hard for people to slow down from 40 mph to 20 at Viking Drive, according to a news release from the city.
The public works department is set to change the signs Friday, officials said, and police will conduct an educational enforcement campaign on that stretch of road for the next month.
