Batavia school's cross-country team cancels events after to positive COVID-19 test

Cross-country team activities for Rotolo Middle School in Batavia have been canceled for two weeks, after someone affiliated with the team tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter sent to parents Tuesday, Batavia Unit School District 101 officials did not say whether the infected person is an athlete or a coach.

Workers and staff members who were identified as having prolonged close contact to the person have been notified by the Kane County Health Department and will stay in quarantine for 14 days, the letter states.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia school resumed in-person instruction Tuesday, after having switched to remote learning in late September when its two parish priests tested positive for COVID-19.

The school's parish also canceled Masses during that time, but resumed in-person worship Oct. 9.
