Lombard students enjoy Apple Crunch Day Oct. 8

On Oct. 8, Healthy Lombard invited everyone to crunch into an apple in a unifying action to raise awareness about eating better diets for our health and the environment, access and affordability of fruits and vegetables, and supporting local farmers.

Crunchers were asked to send a selfie to Healthy Lombard and the results were wonderful.

This year, in addition to providing a coupon from Jewel/Osco for a free apple, Irv & Shelly's Fresh Pick donated two bushels of apples from Mick Klug Farm from St. Joseph, Michigan, to a local school so students could easily participate.

Healthy Lombard is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to address the epidemic of childhood obesity through "Awareness, Activities, and Achievements." Visit www.healthylombard.com.
