Palatine police arrest Chicago man on sexual abuse charge

A Chicago man was arrested on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Palatine police said.

Officers arrested Shamarlo T. Turnage, 30, of the 1100 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, after an investigation during which a teenager whom Turnage knows claims to have been sexually abused by him.

The person was between 13 and 17 years old at the time, and Turnage was at least five years older, police said.

Bail for Turnage was set at $100,000 Thursday in Cook County Court in Rolling Meadows. A judge ordered him to be placed on electronic home monitoring if he posts the required 10%, police said. He was also ordered to have no contact with the person or anyone younger than 18.

His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 23.
