Gary police seek public's tips in beating death of man, 70

GARY, Ind. (AP) - Gary police are seeking tips from the public as they investigate the killing of a 70-year-old man found beaten to death inside his home.

Ray Perry was pronounced dead Thursday from blunt force trauma. His death was ruled a homicide by the Lake County coroner's office.

Perry's body was found by a relative inside his home, Gary police Lt. Thomas Pawlak said. His death marks the 38th homicide this year in the northwest Indiana city, The (Northwest Indiana) Times reported.

Police are asking anyone with information on Perry's death to call the Gary Metro-Homicide Unit at 219-755-3855 or the Gary Police Department Crime Tip Line at 866-CRIME-GP.
