Free scarecrow supplies in Barrington

There will be no Scarecrow Festival in Barrington this year, but residents can get free scarecrow supplies through Friday.

Residents can get a bale of straw, a cornstalk, twine and burlap. The supplies are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the village's public works facility, 300 Raymond Ave.

Residents can submit photos for the village's scarecrow decorating contest by emailing cpotts@barrington-il.gov from Oct. 1 to Oct. 23.

Three winners will be announced Oct. 30 and will be contacted to receive a $50 gift certificate to a village restaurant or retailer of their choice.
