Coroner identifies family of 4 slain in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - A coroner Tuesday identified the Bloomington family of four slain after police say a 61-year-old man shot his wife and two adult children before turning the gun on himself.

Monroe County Coroner Joani Shields identified those killed as 18-year-old Jakob Mumper, 26-year-old Emma Mumper, 54-year-old Annamarie Greta Simon-Mumper and 61-year-old Jeffrey Mumper.

Investigators said it appeared that Jeffrey Mumper shot his wife and children, then killed himself inside the southeast side house where they lived.

About 10:15 Sunday morning, a woman who came to the house to pick up a friend used a key to enter after no one answered the door. She found Annamarie Simon-Mumper dead and called 911, police said. When officers arrived, they discovered three more bodies.

It's not clear what prompted the killings, police Capt. Ryan Pedigo told The Herald Times. Investigators are not releasing details.
