Navistar reports third-quarter loss

LISLE - Navistar International Corp. on Wednesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $37 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Lisle-based ruck and engine maker said it had a loss of 37 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 8 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 16 cents per share.

Navistar posted revenue of $1.68 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.89 billion.

Navistar shares have climbed 27% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 45% in the last 12 months.
