Palatine family kite day

The Kiwanis Club of Palatine will hold its 13th annual Family Kite Fly from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 at Margreth Riemer Reservoir, on the northeast corner of Palatine and Quentin roads. The entrance is off Wood Street, just east of Quentin Road.

All Palatine village and township residents are invited to attend. There will be free kites for children between ages 4 and 12, along with surprises. Kiwanis members will be there to assist with kite assembly and repairs.

Procedure will take into account COVID-19 safety precautions and there might be longer lines for kites.

The area has plenty of room for social distancing among family groups. People ages 2 and up should wear masks.
