Man, 19, arrested after escaping from NW Indiana hospital

LAKE STATION, Ind. (AP) - A 19-year-old man was apprehended Friday by northwestern Indiana police, hours after he escaped from a hospital where he was taken following a standoff with officers, police said.

Michael McGregor of Lake Station was arrested without incident about 1 a.m. Friday in the Lake County city, said Police Chief James Richardson. He was being at the Lake County Jail.

Officers initially arrested McGregor on Thursday following a standoff at this home as they were arrested him on a warrant stemming from felony drug and weapons, The (Northwest Indiana) Times reported.

But he escaped later Thursday from the Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus, where he had been taken for a medical issue. A manhunt by several police agencies followed.

Richardson said that new charges were pending Friday against McGregor.
