Closing prices for crude oil, gold and other commodities

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for October delivery fell $1.60 to $39.77 a barrel Friday. Brent crude oil for November delivery fell $1.41 to $42.66 a barrel.

Wholesale gasoline for October delivery fell 3 cents to $1.18 a gallon. October heating oil fell 2 cents to $1.15 a gallon. October natural gas rose 10 cents to $2.59 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold for December delivery fell $3.50 to $1,934.30 an ounce. Silver for December delivery fell 16 cents to $26.71 an ounce and December copper rose 9 cents to $3.06 a pound.

The dollar rose to 106.21 Japanese yen from 106.07 yen. The euro fell to $1.1852 from $1.1857.
