Naperville seeking student representatives for city boards, commissions
Naperville is seeking high schoolers interested in filling student positions on several city boards and commissions.
Holding a board or commission seat guarantees student representatives participation in a new Leadership Academy, run through the KidsMatter nonprofit. The program aims to provide leadership skills training, experience with board and commission meeting protocols, and connections among peers.
Students can apply by Sept. 18 to serve on the Advisory Commission on Disabilities, Building Review Board, Downtown Advisory Commission, Financial Advisory Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Housing Advisory Commission, Naperville Public Library Board, Naper Settlement Museum Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Utilities Advisory Board, Riverwalk Commission, Sister Cities Commission, Special Events Cultural Amenities Commission and Transportation Advisory Board.
All high school students can apply through the individual board or commission webpage, though preference will be given to seniors. A complete list and description of panels, as well as their meeting dates and times, is available at www.naperville.il.us/boards.
