Driver cited in crash with horse trailer, two other vehicles
A 22-year-old Naperville man has been cited in connection with a crash Friday involving four vehicles, one of them pulling a trailer filled with seven horses, that sent two people to a hospital with injuries, Bartlett police said Tuesday.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28, at the intersection of Route 59 and West Bartlett Road.
Police determined that a 2017 Ford F-450 with a horse trailer was traveling south on Route 59 when it struck a 2019 Isuzu NPR-HD that failed to yield turning left on West Bartlett Road from northbound Route 59.
Police said the impact caused the Ford F-450 to leave the roadway and damage the traffic light located on the southwest corner of the intersection. The Isuzu NPR-HD then struck a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, sending it into a 2018 Toyota Camry, both of which were stopped eastbound on West Bartlett Road at the intersection.
The driver and passenger of the Hyundai Sonata were taken by Bartlett Fire Protection District paramedics to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with what police called nonlife-threatening injuries.
Police did not have information as to whether any horses were injured in the crash.
The intersection was closed for about an hour during the initial investigation.
The driver of the Isuzu NPR-HD was cited for failure to yield turning left at an intersection. He was issued a court date of Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
