Waukegan soup kitchen volunteers needed

Most Blessed Trinity Parish soup kitchen, 914 8th St., Waukegan, is in need of volunteers, parish officials said in a news release.

The soup kitchen is open Wednesday through Saturday, year-round from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The parish has seen an increase in attendance, officials said in the release.

The primary need is for cooks and overall assistance on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Due to COVID-19, the soup kitchen has transitioned from dine-in service to "to go" as guests no longer enter the building but are served at the front entrance.

Volunteers use appropriate PPE (masks and gloves), and the parish does provide training and shadowing for new volunteers.

Anyone are interested in volunteering is asked to contact the soup kitchen coordinator, Frances (Pancha) Gonzalez, at (847) 775-0116.
