Closing prices for crude oil, gold and other commodities

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for October delivery fell 48 cents to $42.34 a barrel Friday. Brent crude oil for October delivery fell 55 cents to $44.35 a barrel.

Wholesale gasoline for September delivery fell 1 cent $1.28 a gallon. September heating oil fell 4 cents to $1.21 a gallon. September natural gas rose 10 cents to $2.45 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold for December delivery rose 50 cents to $1,947.00 an ounce. Silver for September delivery fell 41 cents to $26.73 an ounce and September copper fell 6 cents to $2.92 a pound.

The dollar rose to 105.82 Japanese yen from 105.76 yen. The euro fell to $1.1788 from $1.1852.
