Alleghany Road in Grayslake closing Aug. 26 for rail crossing repairs

Alleghany Road in Grayslake will close to through traffic from Peterson Road to Illinois Route 120 beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Sept. 4.

The road closure is necessary for Metra to repair the railroad crossing south of Route 120, officials said.

A detour will take drivers from Peterson Road to Route 83 to Route 137 to IL Route 120. Local traffic will be allowed from Peterson Road to the Metra railroad crossing and from Route 120 to the Metra railroad crossing. The crossing itself will be closed to all traffic.
