Closing prices for crude oil, gold and other commodities

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for September delivery rose 88 cents to settle at $42.89 a barrel Monday. Brent crude oil for October delivery rose 57 cents to $45.37 a barrel.

Wholesale gasoline for September delivery rose 3 cents $1.27 a gallon. September heating oil was little changed at $1.24 a gallon. September natural gas fell 2 cents to $2.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold for December delivery rose $48.90 to $1,998.70 an ounce. Silver for September delivery $1.58 to $27.67 an ounce and September copper rose 4 cents to $2.90 a pound.

The dollar fell to 106.03 Japanese yen from 106.60 yen. The euro rose to $1.1865 from $1.1838.
