MATCHDAY: 5-time Europa League winner Sevilla faces Wolves

A look at what's happening around European soccer on Tuesday with the last two Europa League quarterfinals:

WOLVERHAMPTON vs. SEVILLA

Sevilla's five wins make it the most successful team in Europa League history, and its hopes of a sixth rose further after dismantling Roma in the last 16 with a high-intensity pressing game. Wolves have never won a European title, but came close in the first-ever final of what was then called the UEFA Cup, losing to Tottenham 3-2 over two legs in 1972. Wolves needed determination and some help from the video assistant referee to get past Olympiakos in the last 16. The winner plays Manchester United.

SHAKHTAR DONETSK vs. BASEL

Shakhtar showed its credentials with a 5-1 aggregate dismissal of Wolfsburg in the last round and takes on a Basel team which has had a punishing schedule. For Basel, its game with 2009 UEFA Cup winner Shakhtar will be its fourth in 12 days and follows an intense Swiss league campaign with two games a week since June. The winner plays Inter Milan. All games from the quarterfinals onward are being played over single legs in Germany without spectators.

COMING UP

The Champions League final eight tournament in Portugal begins on Wednesday when Paris Saint-Germain plays Atalanta in a quarterfinal.
