Lombard offers Citizens Police Academy

Lombard's police department will sponsor its free 10-week Citizens Police Academy from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 8.

The academy is open to those living or working in Lombard and provides an opportunity for participants to meet members of the police force and gain hands-on experience in police work.

Classes will be taught by Lombard officers and cover topics including traffic stops, recruitment and hiring, search and seizure laws, defensive tactics training, and police dog protocols and training. Applications are available online at www.villageoflombard.org/cpa, and available for pick up at Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave.

Masks will be required and social distancing will be in place.
