Northwestern Mutual-Chicago Senior Financial Representative Dexter Means Earns Life Membership in Million Dollar Roundtable for Fifty Years

Northwestern Mutual - Chicago Senior Financial Representative Dexter M. Means, CLU® has earned life membership in Million Dollar Roundtable (MDRT) for the 50th year. To achieve MDRT membership, professionals are required to adhere to a strict code of ethics, focus on providing excellent client service and continue to grow professionally through involvement in at least one other industry association.

"A great deal has changed in the world, but Dexter's belief in the integrity of Northwestern Mutual and the value of permanent life insurance remains steadfast," said Corey D. McQuade, Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual-Chicago. "We congratulate him on this milestone and thank his clients over the last half-century for whom he has provided economic security and peace of mind through purposeful planning."

Means, who also celebrated his 40th anniversary with Northwestern Mutual last year, followed his father, also a 50 plus year MDRT member, into the life insurance business with State Mutual as a college agent in 1964. College was interrupted by enlistment into the U.S. Army 12 Special Forces Group, Airborne (Reserves) and after active duty, he graduated from the University of Illinois and began a full-time career in 1969. He has earned his Charted Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Life Membership in the MDRT and is active in industry associations.

"Throughout my career, I've found the foundation of financial planning is permanent life insurance supplemented with term insurance for income replacement," said Means. "It became obvious to me that Northwestern Mutual can offer their clients the best products and best results, and being able to offer the best to my clients is why I joined Northwestern Mutual in 1979."

Among his memorable client histories is a family-owned HVAC company that stretched to bid on a large project. They required a bank line of credit, won the bid, but lacked sufficient credit. Means reminded them of their personal life insurance cash values. To this day, they credit him with the big jump in the growth of their business.

Means enjoys lifelong friendships with clients, and mostly values his large family. Dex and his wife Lynne have been married 52 years and have five adult children, all in the Chicago area, and 15 grandchildren.
