Emory takes 4-shot lead in Illinois Open

Aurora's Bryce Emory shot a 6-under-par 66 Tuesday to take a 4-stroke lead after two rounds of the Illinois Open at White Eagle Golf Club.

Emory, who had 7 birdies and an eagle, is at 7-under for the tournament. The final round is Wednesday.

In a three-way tie for second place are Western Springs' Charlie Netzel, Wheaton's Tee-k Kelly and Ashland's Ethan Brue.

First-round leader Brandon Holtz followed up his 66 with a 4-over-par 76 and is tied in fifth place at 2-under par.

Emory, a 2013 graduate of Northern Illinois University, and Holtz now share the modern-day scoring record at White Eagle after their 66s.

University of Illinois golf coach Mike Small is tied for 18th at 2-over par.

Billy Gneiser, the 16-year-old grandson of Stan Mikita, shot 91-81.
