Clubhouse Chatter: In light of MLB difficulties, should NFL cancel season

MLB was the first major sport to launch, and it has been anything but a smooth ride so far. If the coronavirus starts surging through multiple baseball teams, the NFL is going to have to strongly consider punting on the upcoming season.

I would point out how there are at least 20 players who tested positive for the coronavirus at some point and are now healthy and playing inside the NBA bubble in Orlando. I haven't heard of any of those guys showing serious symptoms. So while there are plenty of concerns and unknowns, positive tests alone aren't reason to shut things down in MLB or the NFL.

The risks in football are greater than any other sport, be it youth football, high school, college or pro. The NFL should learn from what's going on in MLB and take a serious look at postponing the start of the season until and if the pandemic becomes under control. I can't imagine an NFL season that would be void of serious virus issues.

No need to cancel it yet, but count me among the skeptical that the NFL season is going to be played in full or on time.

That will never happen. The NFL is at least going to try to play. It's going to take the virus running through multiple teams, or for a player to get seriously ill, for the NFL to cancel its season.

The NFL can try to play, if the players agree, but it probably will have to work around interruptions of the sort MLB is experiencing with the Marlins and Phillies.

The NFL isn't going to listen to any other professional leagues. The NFL will do its own thing, until it can't. That might be a while.
