Bartlett man charged with ringing doorbell while possessing loaded gun

Bartlett police Sunday arrested a man who they alleged was carrying a loaded .45-caliber firearm when he rang the doorbell of another house in the middle of the night and asked for help because he believed people were chasing him.

Justin O. Young, 46, of Bartlett, was charged with a Class 4 felony for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and a Class A misdemeanor for possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

Young was accused of having rung the doorbell of a house on the 100 block of South Oak Avenue in Bartlett at 2:20 a.m. Sunday while in possession of the weapon.

Police also alleged Young had fired several rounds into the air near the intersection of North and Oak avenues before approaching the complainant's house. Officers reported having recovered the weapon and several spent shell casings.

Young was taken to the Cook County Jail to await a bail bond hearing.
