Libertarian candidate visits with voters in Green Oaks

Libertarian Party presidential candidate Jo Jorgensen paid a visit Sunday to the area in which she grew up, holding a meet-and-greet with voters at Post Time Sports Bar & Grille in Green Oaks.

Jorgensen was born in Libertyville and grew up in Grayslake. She graduated from Grayslake Community High School, now Grayslake Central.

Supporters packed a sold-out private room for the event to hear from Jorgensen, who now lives in Greenville, South Carolina and is a senior lecturer at Clemson University. She took questions from the audience, detailing her positions on issues such as cutting government spending and eliminating federal income taxes.

Lake County Libertarian Party Chairman Les Deffner said in a press release that the event “is really important because Jo grew up in Lake County. She went to high school here. We wanted to hold an event close to her hometown.”

The 2020 election won't be Jorgensen's first time on the national ballot. In 1996 she served as running mate to Libertarian presidential candidate Harry Browne.
