Working together against virus is patriotic duty

The American beacon is dimming.

America has been described as a beacon to the world. We were the world's envy for our economy, military power, technology, and especially our moral strength in the face of adversity.

Our beacon is dimming as we have failed to recognize the severity of the COVID-19 virus. As a result:

• We have more than 30 million unemployed;

• We have disregarded the science and technology of infection control;

• We have demonstrated personal selfishness over the common good by attending huge gatherings and not wearing masks.

Rather than leading the world in the pandemic fight, we have become the butt of late-night jokes.

Let us remember who we are and demonstrate our personal ownership for ourselves and the safety for our other citizens by wearing a mask. Together we can attack this virus. Currently, there is nothing more patriotic.
