YMCA pools reopen in Palatine, Naperville, Lake Zurich and Downers Grove

Four suburban pools operated by the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago reopened Wednesday for limited use as part of a three-wave, staggered approach with "stringent in-center guidelines to ensure the health and safety," the organization said in a news release.

Pools at Buehler YMCA in Palatine, Fry Family YMCA in Naperville, Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich and Indian Boundary in Downers Grove have reopened for lap swimming with one swimmer allowed in each lane at a time.

Swimmers are required to reserve a time in advance and must remain six feet apart. Swimming time slots are 75 minutes long with 30-minute intermissions for cleaning of high-touch areas such as pool hand bar rails, decks and swimming equipment. Hot tubs and saunas remain closed.

Pools at Elmhurst YMCA and Hastings Lake YMCA in Lindenhurst are scheduled to reopen Aug. 1.
