Clubhouse Chatter: What's your favorite sport to play in your free time?

Clubhouse Chatter is what our Sports staff has to say while waiting for the games to resume. Today's question: What's your favorite sport to play in your free time?

It's got to be golf. My game has slipped precipitously since that hole-in-one as a high school freshman, but it's still a great sport and the best way to get away from the endless grind of covering Major League Baseball.

It used to be basketball, of course. I could play all day. But now that I'm a little (just a little!) older, I really enjoy something that's a little more forgiving: Beach volleyball. I play on various rec teams throughout the year.

Does Frisbee at a picnic count? If not then I'd go with golf, although it's been a few years since I last sliced five straight off the tee into a pond.

After 40 years of hockey and too many broken parts to list them all, it's golf whenever possible now. I love the game and hate the game. Depends on what day you ask me.

I don't get to play as often as I'd like because they're in California, but I love playing basketball with my nephews, Tristan and Keegan.

- Kevin Schmit

I enjoy golf. It's relaxing and you can enjoy the nice walk and scenery!

I've reached the age where I need readers to slip my skate laces into the top 2 eyelets, but a quick tug and tie and I'm good to go. I would play hockey all day, stopping only for lunch. A clean sheet of ice ranks with the freshly mowed grass of a baseball field. Beautiful things.
