Silence on racism
I am astonished that you would print an article about a confederate symbol in Lake County ("A piece of history: Volo museum has no intention of removing General Lee display," July 2) and not talk to a single person but the owner of the racist symbol about the impact that that racist symbol has. The owner of the racist symbol can have no way of knowing who is or isn't bothered by it and is in no position to say whether the Dukes of Hazard was a racist TV show or not. Given the amount of conversation going on in this country right now about Black voices being systematically silenced, one needs to look no further for an example than the lead story in the recent Daily Herald. Do better.
