Historic Long Grove Reopens with Outdoor Pop-Up Movie Theatre, Multiple Live Music Stages Throughout Town

Historic Long Grove will kick-off Illinois' Phase Four reopening plan by hosting an outdoor pop-up movie night on Friday, June 26th followed by a live music town takeover the following day on Saturday, June 27th. The occasion marks the launch of an ongoing summer program presented by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association in effort to draw people back to what's been called the cutest town in the state. HDLGBA will be following recommended State guidelines for social distancing, including hand washing, mask wearing, and the implementation of hand sanitation stations.

In celebration of how sweet it is to reopen, a special free outside screening of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory will delight spectators on June 26th starting at 9:00 pm next to Long Grove's iconic bridge (on the 400 Block of Robert Parker Coffin Road - the road will be closed off). To get things going, from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, there will be a DJ, food and drink for purchase, sangria, movie concessions, and a movie menu from local Long Grove restaurants available for pre-order or onsite ordering. At 8:30 pm, the movie reel will start with old fashioned cartoons. Attendees are asked to bring folding chairs and blankets and enjoy the show. There will also be picnic tables arranged up front for VIP seating for lucky winners of Golden Tickets. Five Golden Tickets will be dispersed throughout town at local merchants and people are encouraged to shop in town anytime between June 24th and June 26th for a chance to win (check www.LongGrove.org and https://www.facebook.com/ShopDineLG for a list of participating merchants and instructions to win).

The feel-good vibes will keep on going on Saturday, June 27th when Long Grove Live debuts. From 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on June 27th (and most weekends thereafter through August), free live music will echo through every corner of historic downtown Long Grove. People are invited to peruse the village and discover the musical genre that suits them best. Whether it be Country, Rock, Jazz or Blues, music lovers can find varying original acts and cover bands helping set the tone simultaneously outside at four different venues throughout town. There will be something for everyone - simply follow the music. The launch of Long Grove Live on June 27th will feature various musical performers throughout the day on the main stage in front of the bridge (where the movie screen the previous night was located) as well as at three other areas throughout downtown. The music schedule will be posted in town and on all Long Grove social media sites. Food and drink will be available for purchase from local Long Grove restaurants to further enhance the (re)opening weekend festivities.

More information on Long Grove Live weekends will be announced soon.
