There's a reason Chicago cops were relaxing

Concerning the June 12 article about police popping popcorn in an alderman's office while riots raged in Chicago: It looks way worse than it is.

The precinct gets a call from the local politician to protect his offices. They station cops there for that purpose.

There probably wasn't any looting in the area at the time, and other cops getting pelted with stones were another time and place.

If they left, they'd be in dereliction of duty.

Why not relax while you're waiting?
