Arlington Heights library receives $50,000 from state for facility improvements

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library received a $50,000 grant through the office of Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White to help pay for essential capital improvements.

The library will use the funding to renovate the existing accessible parking space, exterior ramp and stairs, interior ramp and vestibule, and main level restrooms to meet ADA standards, according to White's office.

The funding is among $620,800 awarded to 17 libraries through the FY20 Live and Learn Construction Grants program.

"Many of our public libraries simply do not have sufficient funds to pay for these improvements on their own," White said in an announcement of the grants. "I am proud to provide this necessary support."
