Clubhouse Chatter: If you could be any pro athlete, who would you pick?

What our Sports staff has to say while waiting for the games to resume.

I'd use Mark Buehrle as a model. I was out with him once during his early days with the White Sox and he freaked out when a kid came up and asked for an autograph. Buehrle never thought he was special and you could never tell if he had a great start or a terrible one in the postgame clubhouse.

Phil Mickelson. Just like Lefty (whose birthday is June 16), I'll be 50 years old in January and can attempt to qualify for the PGA Tour Champions. Of course, I'll have to add 50-60 yards to my drives and 30 yards on the rest of my clubs. And I'll have to stop quaking every time I enter a bunker. And every time I face a curling 4-footer. Or 2-footer for that matter. So, yeah, I don't think I'll be quitting my day job.

I think it would have been neat to be jockey Bill Shoemaker. He got to pilot some of the greatest thoroughbreds of all time and got to travel to race tracks across the nation to do it. And I always thought it was cool to be an athlete who got to be around animals, trainers, owners and the glamour of the Sport of Kings.

I think it would be fun to be Danica Patrick. I have a bit of a lead foot, but she's in an entirely different league. I think it would be fun to know what that kind of speed feels like.

Patrick Sharp. Three-time Stanley Cup winner. Articulate. All-Hair Team. Hollywood looks.

Phil Mickelson. Seems like 'ol Lefty has life pretty well figured out.
