A 27-year-old St. Charles Township woman accused of aggravated cruelty to animals turned herself in and was released on bond.
A Kane County judge issued a warrant for Emily A. Chesterfield's arrest on Monday and set her bail at $5,000.
Chesterfield surrendered Tuesday at the Kane County sheriff's office. She posted $500 bond and was released.
Her next court appearance is 9 a.m. June 23 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
The remains of three dogs, in various states of decomposition, were found late last month in her home and on her property on the 7N100 block of West Drive near South Elgin, authorities said.
Authorities also found 11 other dogs that were malnourished and in poor health, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office. Those dogs were removed from the home, which was deemed unsafe and unsanitary.
