UMCL brings Kindness Parade to Libertyville

Submitted by Debbie Williams

Debbie Williams, director of Children and Family Ministries at the United Methodist Church of Libertyville, has been teaching a series of lessons on kindness in her Zoom Sunday school classes with children in preschool to fifth grade.

They wanted to put kindness into action by spreading love and joy to the community. Instead of focusing on what they couldn't do, Williams told the students that it was an opportunity to make a difference, and the idea of a "Kindness Parade" was born.

The children were excited to spread happiness, especially to the senior members of the congregation and their neighbors. They decorated their families' vehicles, created their own signs, and waved balloons and flowers as they drove through neighborhoods.
