Grants to preserve heritage
The historic preservation advocacy group Landmarks Illinois has awarded $26,000 in grants to 13 nonprofit organizations that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each nonprofit will receive $2,000 to use toward essential organizational expenditures including payroll, rent or digital platform upgrades. Recipients in the suburbs include the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and the Elgin Area Historical Society/Elgin History Museum. These recipients were chosen from a field of 94 applicants based on immediate need, speed of grant funding implementation and alignment with each organization's mission with Landmarks Illinois' work promoting the state's cultural and architectural heritage.
